A chatbot is a piece of software that automatically answers customer questions on your website or social media. Older chatbots followed a fixed script. Modern AI chatbots can understand plain English and answer questions in a natural way. For small businesses, chatbots can handle common questions (opening hours, pricing, location) around the clock without you being available.
Real-world example
A hardware shop adds an AI chatbot to their website. It answers questions about stock availability and opening hours at 11pm, when the owner is not available.
