Natural Language Processing (NLP)
Natural language processing, or NLP, is the branch of AI that enables computers to understand, interpret, and generate human language. It's the technology that makes ChatGPT able to understand what you're asking and reply in plain English. NLP powers everything from spell checkers and translation tools to chatbots and voice assistants. When an AI seems to 'get' what you mean, NLP is working in the background.

When a Waterford retailer types a rambling question into ChatGPT about how to write a returns policy, NLP is what allows the AI to understand the intent and produce a clear, usable answer.
